Due to a changed printing and delivery schedule following the loss of our delivery partner Peak Advertiser, this Community Voice Local Plan Special Edition had to go to print earlier than expected and before the final draft was released in mid-July 26, and also before the new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) was released on August 17th 2026. The Community Voice Local Plan Special Edition therefore doesn’t reflect some of the changes made to the draft Local Plan finalised in July, or changes that will now need to made to comply with the new NPPF. The Special Edition was however correct at time of printing.
As a direct result of the new NPPF 2026, introduced by the government on August 17th 2026, a major change in policy whereby the ‘tilted balance’ in favour of developments (when a 5 year housing land supply can’t be demonstrated) has been replaced with a location, relative to settlement boundary policy, which is now in force.
DDTC have therefore amended its recommendation to residents as per the attached document here, as the new 2026 version of the NPPF has materially changed how planning may affect Darley Dale.
