Coronation Family Fun Day

We proudly hosted our Coronation Family Fun Day on Monday 8th May. Thank you to all our residents that came down for the afternoon to celebrate. Although the weather wasn’t the best, we had more than 1,000 visitors on the day enjoying the free activities organised.

Live music was played throughout the day with the fantastic local brass bands – Darley Dale Band and Cromford Community Band, followed by Blagger, a rock/indie cover band.

Activities ranged from crazy golf, bouncy castles, face painting to the incredible bubble display by the Bigbubbleman. Derbyshire Wildlife Trust put on a dam making activity and the Co-op were on hand to promote their Local Community Fund.

Pets were not forgotten on the day either, with Peak Performers on hand for dogs to have a go at dog flyball. Prizes were also up for grabs at our popular dog show with 6 categories ranging from the most obedient dog to the dog most like its owner! The dog show was judged by Mayor Dave Oakley and Becky Wakeman from Bakewell Pets.

Following on from the success of our Queen’s Jubilee event in Whitworth Park last year, we again decided to organise free travel with Peak Rail for residents to be able to travel to and from the event on a steam train throughout the day. Many local residents said they hadn’t been on the train before as it was ‘one of those things you just don’t get round to doing when it’s on your doorstep’. The feedback was amazing and enjoyed by all who travelled to the event by train. Thank you to Peak Rail for putting on such a great service for the residents of Darley Dale.
